Process

What can you expect from the session?

We take generous time for one powerful session consisting of three parts.

1) First, we carefully map out your smoking habit. Then I clearly explain what hypnosis is and what it is not. This explanation is essential; it largely determines the success of our collaboration.

2) Next, we start by learning self-hypnosis – a valuable technique that you can also use after the session to deal with stress. Then we explore what is really underneath your smoking behavior. We resolve the underlying causes and reprogram your subconscious with new beliefs and habits.

3) Finally, we pair all of this with a scent anchor: a scent stick that helps remind you at home of your decision to continue as a non-smoker.

At the end of the session, we determine together if the work feels complete. Sometimes I recommend a follow-up session to deepen the results. In other cases, we schedule a brief phone check-in two weeks later to monitor your results.

It was nice that during the intake session we were already looking for the reasons of smoking. Before the session started I was well informed about hypnosis and during the session I was well guided. Hypnosis is known as an effective method to quit smoking. Many people have successfully quit in one session. But there are also people for whom it did not “work” - or who started again later.

Therefore, it is not hypnosis in itself that determines whether it works. Hypnosis reinforces an internal decision that you have already made: that you really want to stop. This is the piece of reprogramming. But sometimes that is not enough.

Sometimes beneath your smoking behavior lies a deeper belief:
- That smoking gives you security
- Or calms you down
- Or gives you freedom

If your subconscious holds any of such beliefs, then suggestions to stop are simply refused. When this is the case, we have to go deeper. We explore with hypnosis what emotional, subconscious reasons lie hidden. Because only when we transform those quitting can become effortless.
